Solace Void is a puzzle-platforming Game Boy game with horror elements.

I plan for full release in mid to late 2025.

The demo build is still unfinished, but the core mechanics are functioning as intended. I will be in need of any Game Boy fans that would like to test Solace Void in the coming weeks.

I would like to ensure the game play is tight and fun, before I start building the rest of the game. I'll be updating the demo  regularly.

Game Description - Veteran monster exterminator Roland Crawford and his team have been hired to clear out a derelict science complex. Navigate the labs,  kill monsters, destroy specimen tanks, and uncover the dark secrets of the abandoned science facility known as Solace Void.

* The current demo is only the first portion of the first level.*

exactly the kind of vibe I'm after in a game. great work, would love to try it on hardware

Thanks very much! I'll have the rom up soon, I'm almost finished with the demo.

Yeah I like the overall movement and combat. Would be nice to duck and fire but probably unnecessary. Just feels like a missing element, but not essential to the gameplay. Jetpack momentum feels great. Characters look good. Great start!

Thanks very much for the feedback, and checking out the demo! I did tool around with crouching as I agree it feels like you should be able to.  There's a plugin that can change the collision box of the characters sprite sheet to pull it off, but I decided to pass as plugins can sometimes cause issues when new updates come for gb studio.

I'm already pushing the DMG to the limit on object and projectiles as is so the crouch shoot may force me to simplify things even more.

At the end I chose animations and blood spatter over the ability to crouch shoot

You should make the ROM file available to download if you can so people can test play on original hardware.

I like the game feel.  The jet pack jump is unique and fun.  Nice work!

Thanks a lot, I am going to put the demo rom up on my page once I finish it. Will be up before the new year sir.

This is off to a great start! Music, art, atmosphere all fit well. Gameplay is intuitive and controls feel good.
